 Must have for crusing! August 14, 2007
We have several books on the boat for deciding on destinations collected throughout the years, and this is the one we always use. It is organized very well for a quick look when you are looking for a port. It has great pictures and diagrams of the dock layouts, as well as services available. Contact information is usually both telephone numbers or radio channels. His "Anchorages" book is just as excellent though I am more familar with the "Docks" book. This book is hard to find in stores in the States, we got ours in Canada. I came to Amazon to buy a copy for my friends who are new to cruising. The only criticism I have is that the information on finding fuel (we use diesel) was unreliable on the North inside of Vancouver Island, where it becomes more scarce. Calling first is advised, although we couldn't find anyone who would answer the phone.

I have found this book very useful on 3 cruises through the San Juans and Vancouver Island. Information on each marina includes: area map, harbor layout, address, phone #, VHF channel, Marina services, photographs and a general discussion of the marina and surrounding area.
