From the supplier: The airline industry needs to adopt a prevention program similar to that used by risk managers in other fields or the number of accidents could dramatically increase. The number of large airliners in use will double by 2010, and if current safety practices remain in place, as many as 560 people per year could die in airline crashes. If the National Transportation Safety Board expands its current mandate of simply determining the cause of each crash and focuses on each step that could have been taken to prevent it, the skies could be five times safer.
