4 out of 5 stars Helfpul for New People   October 3, 2008
If you are brand new to LA, this book will help you out a lot. It seems like it would help someone who is looking for apartments, places to work, and trying to get an idea of what life is like in Los Angeles. If you have already been here for more than a few months, you will have undoubtedly figured out most of the information here on your own. Most of the book is taken up by a listing of restaurants, gyms, dog stores, grocery stores and other necessities. It seems more like a phone book than a guide for someone who would like to get the most out of his city.

If you have been in LA for a few months and have the money, this book will surely show you a few cool places, but nothing strikingly new will be revealed. It would better suit someone who is just on the verge of making the move.

5 out of 5 stars Even for tourists   September 24, 2008
As the title implies, this book has probably more value for L.A. residents or those spending many days a year in L.A. Very helpful and resourceful. In some ways like miniature Yellow Pages and more. An essential supplement to any other guide. Worth having even if you are a tourist.

The only complaint? It's kinda large to carry around (but at least not too thick).

4 out of 5 stars Lets you find your way.....   August 26, 2008
This is a great book for finding your way in L.A. Even for someone who has lived in So Cal all her life you can benefit this this little book.

Helpful for finding all streets and points of interest throughout the LA area. Great for those new to the area. Use for walking OR driving.

4 out of 5 stars HUGE BOOK (Not like the NYC model)   April 9, 2008

Just received this in the mail and have to note that this book is not what I expected. Coming from NY where I loved my NFT and always stuffed it in my pocket (or bag, because it's a bit larger than pocketsize) I must warn all fellow New Yorkers that this NFT is gigantic. It's bigger than the average paperback. Which makes sense since you're always in the car in LA, but still.

From my quick skim the book looks great.

Only other qualm is that there are advertisements in it, which seem ridiculous with the cover price...
