Shopaholic Ties the Knot
The irresistible heroine of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is back!--in a hilarious tale of mothers and daughters, mothers and sons, and one blushing bride who just can?t say no to saying ?I do.?
Life has been good for Becky Bloomwood: She?s become the best personal shopper at Barneys, she and her successful entrepreneurial boyfriend, Luke, are living happily in Manhattan?s West Village, and her new next door neighbor is a fashion designer! But with her best friend, Suze, engaged, how can Becky fail to notice that her own ring finger is bare? Not that she?s been thinking of marriage (or diamonds) or anything...
Then Luke proposes! Bridal registries dance in Becky?s head. Problem is, two other people are planning her wedding: Becky?s overjoyed mother has been waiting forever to host a backyard wedding, with the bride resplendent in Mum?s frilly old gown. While Luke?s high-society mother is insisting on a glamorous, all-expenses-paid affair at the Plaza. Both weddings for the same day. And Becky can?t seem to turn down either one. Can everyone?s favorite shopaholic tie the knot before everything unravels?

"There's only one Becky Bloomwood. Never stop beeing her." October 24, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Luke Brandon finally ties the knot with his beloved Becky Bloomwood. But just like anything that Becky touches, there are bound to be complications -- lots of very expensive and hilarious complications!
It's hard to believe that Sophie Kinsella can keep topping herself with every one of her books featuring this "Lucille Ball" of a character who never met a purchase that she couldn't justify. Shopaholic Ties the Knot takes readers from England to America and back again, following the insanity that evolves when Becky just happens to schedule two weddings at the same time. How can our girl pass up a fairy-tale Plaza Hotel extravaganza paid for by her future mother-in-law? The fact that there's already a wedding being planned by her own mother back in England is certainly of little consequence... Certainly, it will all somehow work out?
As we've come to expect from Sophie Kinsella, her characters are put through the wringer with hilarious consequences. But in Shopaholic Ties the Knot, we're also in for some deeper issues to be explored with Luke's relationship with his mother, who abandoned him as a child. Becky's perceptions of Luke's grief reflect her deeper, more sensitive side. It's clear that she loves Luke for himself, and not for his considerable wealth.
It's rare that I fall so in love with an author's talent that I feel compelled to buy everything that she writes. Sophie Kinsella is an amazing writer! Don't miss this wonderfully charming and funny novel!
Sophie Kensella is the best October 3, 2008 I love Sophie. She is a very entertaining author. Her books are by no means intellectually stimulating; however, they are immensely entertaining. They are great summer books and perfect for a day of light reading. :)
A Bit of a Letdown September 27, 2008 I loved the first two "Shopaholic" books, but this one was a bit of a letdown. There's very little plot. Not all that much happens, just Becky agonizing about her upcoming wedding day and trying to please both her American high-society mother-in-law-to-be and her British down-to-earth (but slightly daffy) parents. In the end, Becky does manage to please both sides of the family. But I was disappointed that Becky didn't have the wedding that she wanted--she was the bride after all. Also, I was puzzled about the dates. As another reader also noted, the New York wedding was set for June 21st, while the one in England was always planned for June 22nd (see page 50). So, the two weddings were never scheduled for the same day! How could the author and the editor not have noticed this? A case of very bad editing. Nonetheless, I like the character of Becky Bloomwood. Some readers object to her overspending ways, but that's the point of the whole series, isn't also? The funny thing, though, is that Becky doesn't really go on any spending sprees in this book. I was expecting the bride-to-be to max out her credit cards on both sides of the Atlantic, but she doesn't. In my opinion, Sophie Kinsella is a great writer. She's got a way with words and she knows how to write a page turner. However, I think the author needed to flesh out the plot a little more--and double check her dates.
Makes you want to get married! August 2, 2008 I really like the Shopaholic series, very funny and enjoyable. The delivery was very fast and excellent condition.
Such a Fun Read!!! July 24, 2008 In, The Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Becky Bloomwood is getting married! Her mother and her (evil) mother-in-law are planning a wedding for the same day. Becky is having a hard time saying NO to either but knows that she cannot attend both. How will she save the day?
Hilarious! This so far is the funniest book in the serious. Becky Bloomwood is a more developed character then in the 1st two novels and why Kinsella plays up all the parts we love about Becky she also has toned it down a bit, which leads to hilarity! I laughed out loud to parts of this book. I can't wait to read the next one.
