Product Description

It's a fact: the low?carb craze is everywhere. Another fact: two?thirds of Americans are still overweight and no one is getting thinner. Although low?carb diets produce short term weight loss, the results are not sustainable in the long term. Dieticians, fitness experts, and medical publications are slowly awakening to the fact that the low?carb diet isn't the answer to weight loss nor a solution to the obesity epidemic.

What is the solution? Jorge Cruise's THE 3?HOUR DIET reveals that timing is the revolutionary weight loss element that has been kept secret until now. By eating small, balanced meals every three hours you reset your body's metabolism and achieve amazing results. Eating every three hours turns off your "starvation protection mechanism" ensuring that fat is released and fat?burning muscle preserved. So get ready to lose 2 pounds each week! All with no calorie counting, no starvation, and no deprivation. Bottom line, timing will sculpt your body slim.

With his now trademark easy?to?follow instructions, accessibility, and client success stories, Jorge Cruise's THE 3?HOUR DIET is a fluid combination of proven success and categorical innovation. Weight loss has never been easier!

Stepping around the low-fat versus low-carb debate, Jorge Cruise (Eight Minutes in the Morning) suggests that losing weight isn't in what you eat, but rather, when you eat it. The core idea behind The Three-Hour Diet is that by timing your meals and snacks every day, the pounds will come off. No restrictions, no exercise.

While reality is rarely that simple, the advice offered here is nutritionally sound, emphasizing plenty of fruits and vegetables, and filling in with lean proteins, healthy fats, and just enough carbs to keep meals interesting. Following Cruises guidelines for portion control, youll eat an average of 1,400 calories per day, filling half your plate with fruits or vegetables, and dividing the other half between the rest of the food groups. Healthy meals from fast-food joints and freezer cases are included, and a substantial recipe section offers everything from a bacon and cheese omelet to rosemary lamb chops. A month-long journal is also provided, giving you space to plan each meal in advance (a key part of the diet), along with daily motivational hints and visualization exercises. A few pages cover basic exercises--but the emphasis is definitely on the diet, which Cruise asserts will work, regardless of whether you choose to work out.

Cruises straightforward, no-excuses encouragement works well with the simple formula the plan is based upon, and the clever Three-Hour Plate? makes it easy to keep portion sizes in check. Still, closely monitoring meal time might seem like a challenge to some of the "busy people" for whom the program claims to be specifically designed. If counting calories or net carbs sounds dauntingbut keeping a close eye on the clock doesntyou might just find weight loss success in these pages. Jill Lightner

Tired of fad diets and their lack of results? That's just how Jorge Cruise, author of The Three-Hour Diet, wants you to feel. Cruise's guidelines encourage sensible portion control and plenty of vegetables, but--perhaps more importantly--they encourage dieters to feel good about themselves by teaching self-acceptance and positive visualization. Stressing an easy-to-follow visual food plan that insists on incorporating snacks and treats into your day, he contends that carb-bashing is a highly ineffective means of maintaining a healthy weight. How can you sort out weight-loss fact from fiction? Amazon.com contributor Jill Lightner got some straight answers from Cruise.

2 out of 5 stars I had high hopes   June 9, 2008
I am at a plateau and need to lose 10 pounds. I was hoping that this book would help since eating every 3 hours is reasonable. Nothing yet, my plateau continues and I am at week 3. Maybe I'm to anxious, but the book promises weight lose in the first week. I have a friend who purchased one of Cruise's 8 minute books and she lost 2 dress sizes, and she was not even trying to lose weight just tone. I will solider through the diet for 2 more weeks but after that, if no results then I am done.

The book has a helpful, but short frozen food purchase list for lunches and dinner. I'm not happy with the diet, but if you have more than 10 pounds to lose it will may work.

5 out of 5 stars A Winner of A Diet.   April 27, 2008
Excellent! Why didn't we think of this before? The idea of eating every 3 hours is awesome. Usually I can tell myself to hang on, just a short time to go. Controling your blood sugar is key. Thanks Jorge.

5 out of 5 stars You Got to atleast try it...........................   February 20, 2008

I have read so many reviews on this book. I have to tell you that you just need to give it a chance. I know that everyone out there needs to find a diet that works for them - when you find that diet you will achieve your goals. But don't cut down what many people have found to be a good one. For myself I have tried a lot of diets out there, until I finally realized that it wasn't about the diet - it was about my attitude - my making the change of life - not dieting - knowing that this is something I have to do for the rest of my life - a change in eating.... I did find it in the 3 hour diet. I don't like calling it a diet...I call it a change of the way I eat for the rest of my life. I actually haven't even finished reading the book - but I took the essentials I needed to get my new life on the way - I started my new life on Jan 15, 08 and as of Feb 18, 08 I have lost 15.6 lbs. I am not going to lie the first week was tough - I was extremely tired and hunger - but when the second week came along - it was like a whole new energy came along. I am not saying that the losing weight journey is easy by no means. But I do feel by eating what I want - it has helped. I have 92.4 lbs to still lose, but I make small monthly goals for myself which is a great reward at the end. So for all those neg people out there - just give it a chance - and for those that are out there losing .... keeping dropping those lbs.

5 out of 5 stars Catchy   February 7, 2008

This book caught my eye with its catchy title. While the title almost implies that you only have to diet for three hours, the true meaning is that you need to EAT every three hours. By doing this, your body doesn't go into starvation mode which will eventually undermine your goal to lose weight.

Reader friendly and well laid out, I'd have to say its not a bad plan all in all. However, even if you follow it to a 'T', you'll be doing the same thing you've always had to do to lose weight successfully- eat less and exercise more. Readers looking for a good calorie counter might also want to check out CalorieKing Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter (Calorie King).
