Product Description
First Officer John Drake is Derek Hart's latest hero, yet perhaps it's the ship that takes center stage in this latest adventure. The Princess Carla is the setting for a tale of love and intrigue, romance and excitement, with some international criminals thrown in for good measure. Indeed Drake is handsome, dashing, and certainly entertaining, but it's Interpol Agent Raylene Capri who creates all the mystery and torrid romance.

Danger Cruise takes place during a one-week roundtrip cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico with several scenic stops in between. While the characters and certain events are fictional, not only is the cruise timeframe based on fact, but also all the details about life aboard the Carla during those days are true, right down to the movies shown, the live shows, and the food served.

Derek Hart effectively blends real life on a cruise ship with intrigue and romance, propelling the capable John Drake straight into the arms of the equally gifted Raylene Capri. As an independent fashion designer and manager of Musical Fantasy, a Las Vegas Review dance show, she's not only beautiful but concealing something too. However, complications arise when this man and woman fall in love, so everything becomes far more interesting and dangerous.

4 out of 5 stars Fun onboard the Carla!   August 19, 2008
An excellent tale of love, courage, and respect. This novel by Derek Hart was full of intrigue. A great read for the beach or traveling. I felt like I was onboard the Carla herself. It can't get any better than sailing to our favorite ports while this book gets you in the mood to find an onboard romance, can it? *winks*

The dicey star here is a magnificant dancer named Ralene and she will perform for you both onboard the stage and in your heart nightly, while her onboard shipmate and "First Officer" Drake sets the fast-paced romance that will get your blood flowing, with characters you won't forget for a long time. This book although a bit informative at first,(but accurately detailed) speeds into a life-like tale of passion and betrayal quickly. I found myself longing for more after I slapped the cover closed!

Unlike Derek's other four novels that I have previously enjoyed as well, this book was completely off the beaten path from his usual casualties of war-type reads. Proving once again, that Derek Hart can write several genre type manuscripts to fulfill his reader's interest. Very well done!

*Come sail away in this near perfect dream-state novel by Derek Hart.

5 out of 5 stars Great Escape   July 7, 2008

I read this book awhile ago and just reread it. (Note: It is published by iUniverse, not AuthorHouse.)

This book is great fun - a take-off on the B-movies and serial books that were popular years ago. I read it in one sitting and never stopped turning the pages.

As usual, Hart's research is impeccable. He gives us an inside look at the way a cruise ship operates but the details are wrapped inside an entertaining story.

This is the perfect beach read, or better yet, ship read. If you're looking for pure fun in a book, this is it.
